EA Equestrian:

equinox acres of fun!

Lessons

As well as having one large all weather arena, we have set up a basic school in our flattest field (beside the car park) which can be used for anything from dressage to showjumping. We now also have a large covered arena behind the main stable block which is used for lessons and schooling sessions as well.

All our lessons are taken by qualified instructors and are tailored to suit each rider so you will never feel overfaced. We welcome people to bring their own horses for schooling or to hire the arena but, as with hacking we urge you to contact us in advance.

Prices

1 hour group lesson - £15

1 hour private lesson - £20

Specialist schooling such as advanced showjumping and dressage will be extra - please enquire for more details.

'Hireouts' are also available if you want to ride your favourite horse without instruction, however these are subject to terms and conditions as they are usually unsupervised.

Requirements

While proper riding attire such as jhodpurs and long boots are perfect, we know that not everyone, especially beginners, will have access to such clothes but don't worry, you can still ride! Trousers without large seams are suitable (but nothing cropped and definetly no shorts) As far as footwear goes, anything with a heel will do nicely - just no trainers, as they can be dangerous to ride in if your foot slips through the stirrup.

Don't panic if you haven't got a hat!

We have a large selection of riding hats (all at up to date safety standards) that you may borrow free of charge for use in our lessons and hacks.

To keep up the quality of our lessons we will not have more than seven at a time in a group lesson. If you want to organise a party or something with more people then we will have to split it as it really isn't fair on everyone.

Lessons Involve...

No experience is needed for our beginner lessons and you needn't worry about being pressured into jumping or anything - we will work at your own pace and if you aren't comfortable doing anything you won't have to.

Typically, our beginner lessons teach the basics of riding - stopping, starting and steering, as well as balance exercises and the beginning of rising trot.

Intermediate lessons will deal with trotting and cantering mostly, as well as lots of trotting poles and other exercises to provide the groundwork to jumping. We also do work without stirrups to improve your position in the saddle and to increase confidence. Cavaletti and raised trotting poles prove very popular with our regulars! Advanced lessons will be walk/trot/canter/jump although the jumps will only be as high as you feel confident over!
